HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SKI SIZE

The main factors when choosing your ski size are: your height, level, and weight.

But there are other aspects to consider too: the category of ski, the type of snow, the terrain and personal preferences are some of the things to keep in mind.

The general rule is to choose a ski length that lies between your chin and the top of your head. Advanced and expert skiers can choose skis that are slightly longer than their head height.

ADVANCED/EXPERT

(to size)

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED

(between the nose and the forehead)

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE

(between the chin and the nose)

  Beginner Intermediate Confirmed Expert
TRACK Your height - 10 cm Your height  - 7 cm Your height  - 5 cm Your height
ALL MOUNTAIN Your height - 10 cm Your height - 5 cm Your height Your height  + 5 cm
FREERIDE Your height  - 5 cm Your height Your height Your height + 5 cm
FREESTYLE Your height  - 10 cm Your height - 7 cm Your height - 7 cm

Your height - 5 cm

A shorter ski will be easier to turn, but not as stable as a longer ski. A curved ski with a narrower waist and a smaller curve radius can be skied at a shorter length than a mountain or freeride ski that has a larger curve radius and a wider skate width.

WE RECOMMEND SHORTER SKIS, CLOSER TO YOUR CHIN, IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO YOU:

  • You are a beginner or intermediate skier.
  • You weigh less than the average for your height.
  • You want to make short, fast turns.
  • You want a curved ski with camber and no rocker.

AND LONGER SKIS, CLOSER TO YOUR HEIGHT AND THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD IF:

  • You ski fast and aggressively.
  • You weigh more than the average for your height.
  • You plan to do most of your skiing on the piste.
  • You are planning to use a double-tip ski.
  • You want a ski that has more rocker.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SKI SIZE FOR YOUR CHILD

Height and weight are both important determinants in choosing the right size skis for children. Junior skis should be between the child's chest and nose.
